An homage to Toru Takemitsu for double string quartet, written in a tight iterative routine of interlocking loops that maximizes both cohesion and improvisation, generating an emergent phrase and large-scale form morphogenetically, from within.

A slow explosion of the first 24 notes of Bach’s Dm violin partita, for piano and live processing (long delay).

Four experiments in music bringing itself into being: Separation / Sedimentation / Cell / Cantus Firmus.

The strings give voice to the inaudible, but not imaginary, fields emanating from clarinet line – memory trails, harmonic implications both real and imagined, unexplored paths, alternative interpretations and consequences.

This string quartet was first read by the Enso Quartet in the spring of 2006. It won the Foundation for Modern Music Young Composer Award and was an ASCAP Finalist.
